Creating Stochastic Alerts

With timetotrade’s innovative “point-and-click” Trigger Technology, creating your own customised Stochastic Alerts is simple. There are no programming languages to learn, or complex macros to write. Just choose your chart, click a Trigger Button, enter your parameters and your Stochastic Alert is created. Simple! The next time your investment conditions are met, an alert will be sent to your mobile phone, PDA, instant messanger or email.
Build your own simple, single trigger alerts or create complex compound alerts with multiple trigger conditions:
Positive / Negative Cross-over triggers
(eg stochastic %D crossing above or falling below the stochastic %D oscillator)
Rising / falling threshold triggers
(eg stochastic rises above 80 or falls below 20)
Break-out / Pull-back triggers
(eg stochastic increases by 5 pooints)
One-Click triggers
(rapidly create stochastic Cross-over alerts in one click)
You can even build compound Alerts which will be triggered if a series of events occurs, for example you could create an alert on a stock that will trigger if: the Stochastic falls below 20 followed by a stochastic cross-over; or the RSI of a stock was to fall below 70, followed by a price pull back and a stochastic crossover.
The timtotrade Stochastic Alert tool supports:
- Multiple condition triggers for price and technical indicators
- Customisable indicator intervals, periods and parameters
- Instant alerts to email, mobile phone SMS, or instant messenger
- UK, US, Indian, Singapore and Kenyan stocks
- All the major currency pairs: EURUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, GBPUSD and more…
- Real-time Stochastic Alerts for Forex and most UK listed stocks
Use timetotrade to avoid missing trading opportunities. No matter where you are or how busy you are - when it's "timetotrade" we'll let you know!

Customise Your Settings
To create your own Stochastic Alerts, go to the timetotrade Charts page >> and enter the ticker symbol for the stock or currency pair that you wish to follow.
On timetotrade's stochastic charts, the %K oscillator is shown as a dark green line and the red line represents the %D oscillator.
The charts are defaulted to show 3 months of data with a 1 day interval period, with Stochastic %K set at 14, %D at 3 and the Slow Period 3. These can all be changed to suit your trading strategy; and once you have set up a timetotrade account you can select your own default settings.
You can select to view up to 10 years of historical data.
You can adjust the interval period to suit - from 1 minute to 1 month.
And you can change the the Stochastic Oscillator %K, %D and Slow Period (sp) paraments. Just enter your preferred values into the parameter text box, then press the keyboard 'enter' button to update the charts.
To save your settings, click on the 'set default' button at the bottom of the screen.

Rising and Falling Threshold Alerts
Stochastic Alert "Rising" and "Falling Threshold" Trigger Buttons, as identified in the image shown, can be used to create an alert to notify you when a stock or currencies last trade price increases above or falls below a 'threshold' price that you choose. You would use Rising and Falling Threshold Triggers to create alerts to notify you when support and resistance levels are tested.
For example, to create an alert that will be triggered and notify you when the %K oscillator rises above a particular value eg 80, just click the "Rising Threshold" Trigger button.
Once you click on the charts' Alert Trigger Button, a text box appears below the stochastic chart, as shown.
Step 1: Select the "Rising Threshold" Trigger Button
Step 2: Input the trigger value, eg 80
Step 3: Click the "add trigger" button.
Step 4: Click the "activate button.
And that's it!
Your alert is created. It really is that simple.
The next time the stochastic %K rises above 80, you will receive an alert to your email, instant messanger or cell phone.
If you wish, you could edit the alert to include your own personal alert message, choose whether the alert will run once or will be reactivated once triggered, add more triggers to the alert and select your preferred methods of notification (email, instant messenger and/or SMS alerts).
Stochastic Crossover Alerts
Stochastic Alert "Cross-over" Trigger Buttons can be used to create an alert to notify you when there is a percentage increase or decrease in the Stochastic within the defined interval period.
For example if a stock was increasing in price and you wanted to be notified if there was a stochastic pull-back of more than 2% in a day and therefore a potential change of trend, you would use the "Pullback" Trigger to create the alert to notify you when your investment conditions are met.
To create an alert that will be triggered when the %K oscillator (dark green line) rises above the %D oscillator (red line), follow the steps as shown in the diagram:
Step 1: Click on the "Postive Crossover" Trigger button
Step 2: Click on the "add trigger" button
Step 3: Click the "activate" button
The next time the %K oscillator crosses over above the %D oscillator you will be notified by an alert sent to your email, instant messanger or cell phone.
You customise the alerts to suit you: for example you can edit the alert message you will receive, decide how you would like to be notified and which email and/or mobile phone you would like the alert sent to.
Stochastic Break Out & Pull Back Alerts
Stochastic Alert "Breakout" and "Pullback" Trigger Buttons can be used to create an alert to notify you when there is a sudden change in the stochastic based on a fixed increase or decrease in value within a given time interval.
For example if the stochastic was falling and you wanted to be notified when it changes trend and increases by 5 points, you would use the 'Breakout' Trigger Buttons to create the alert to notify you when your investment conditions are met.
Once you click on the charts' Alert Trigger Button, a text box appears below the stochastic chart, as shown.
Step 1: Select the "Break Out" Trigger Button
Step 2: Input the trigger increase, eg 5
Step 3: Click the "add trigger" button.
Step 4: Click the "activate button.
The next time the stochastic %K increases by 5 points, you will receive an alert to your email, instant messanger or cell phone.
As previously, you could edit the alert to include your own personal alert message, choose whether the alert will run once or will be reactivated once triggered, add more triggers to the alert and select your preferred methods of notification (email, instant messenger and/or SMS alerts).

One-Click Alerts
The 'one-click' double arrow buttons beside the Crossover Alert Trigger Buttons can be used to immediately create and activate an alert in one-click for either the positive or negative crossover triggers, using timetotrade's system default settings.
Customise Your Alert
You can customise the Stochastic Alerts further to suit you, for example:
- Select how you wish to be notified: email, instant messenger or SMS text alert to your mobile
- Edit and personalise the alert message you will receive
- Select the "sleep period" if you would like the alert to automatically reactivate itself once triggered.
- Add additional alert trigger conditions
More information on how to use the timetotrade system to create Stochastic Alerts can be found on the Creating an Alert >> pages.
Compound Alerts

timetotrade can also be used to create alerts on Price and Volume as well as the technical indicators: MACD, RSI, Bollinger Bands and Moving Averages.
Once you are familiar with creating basic alerts you can use timetotrade's advanced features to customise your alerts to suit you. You can build compound alerts containing multiple trigger conditions against price and multiple technical indicators; for example:
you could set up rule that will trigger an alert to be sent to you when the share price falls below a defined value followed by the stochastic increasing above 20 and a positive MACD crossover.
You can also edit the alert message you will receive and you can specify where particular alerts are to be sent - to your email and/or mobile phone or PDA.
